On the night of May 15, Russian occupiers again launched massive shelling in northern Ukraine, striking several regions, including Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts
This resulted in large fires, destruction of residential buildings, infrastructure objects, and vehicles. Information from the scene and official sources confirms that the situation remains on an upward trend, leading to a growing humanitarian crisis and requiring urgent measures to protect the population. According to reports from the Sumy Regional Military Administration, during the night, the Russians carried out a large-scale attack on one of the communities in the region. About ten kamikaze attack drones were launched at civilian targets in the occupied area. As a result of the hits, a powerful fire broke out, engulfing residential and outbuilding structures. Emergency services have been working on-site since the night, battling the fire and mitigating the consequences of the attack. Preliminary information indicates that there are no casualties from this series of strikes so far, but the damages remain significant. The situation remains equally tense in Dnipropetrovsk region. As reported by the head of the regional military administration, Serhii Lysak, on his Telegram channel, the evening of May 14 was marked by artillery and drone attacks on the Hefei community in the Synelnykove district. The enemy’s missile systems and UAVs targeted with large-caliber weapons, resulting in the partial destruction of a cultural center. The fire caused by the explosions was quickly localized by firefighters. Additionally, over ten private residential buildings, several stores, and vehicles were under shelling. According to Lysak, the consequences of the attacks caused significant damage and created additional hardships for the local residents. Furthermore, during the night of May 15, the occupiers intensified shelling in the Nikopol district. There, the Russians used artillery and UAVs to destroy infrastructure and intimidate civilians. As a result of the attacks, multi-storey buildings, kindergartens, private homes, and cars were damaged. The use of drones and shells caused considerable psychological and material damage to the region, which has long been subjected to terror from the occupiers. Overall, the situation remains tense. Ukrainian security and emergency services are doing their utmost to localize the consequences of the attacks and protect peaceful communities. Local residents are forced to live in constant anxiety and expect new strikes, as reports of ongoing attacks appear daily. Authorities urge residents to stay vigilant, follow official updates, and limit outdoor activities especially in the evening and night hours. These criminal actions of the occupying army clearly demonstrate their intent to intimidate and destroy the Ukrainian population, ruin infrastructure, and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the regions. However, Ukrainian defenders continue to fight for peace and security, undertaking difficult tasks of recovery and stabilization. Responsible agencies are already working on strengthening defenses and providing the necessary resources to assist the affected populations, because our future depends on our ability to withstand and resist the aggression.
