The 18-hour night broke the peace of Kharkiv region: Russian drones again deliberately attacked civilians
In the darkness of the suburbs and small villages of Kharkiv oblast on May 14, the sounds of explosions and drone humming were heard once more, adding to the region’s residents’ anxieties. According to official information released by the oblast prosecutor’s office via their Telegram channel, Russian forces used strike UAVs to carry out targeted attacks on several settlements. This nocturnal attack resulted in injuries to three civilians, including elderly persons, and caused damage to residential sectors and infrastructure. According to the prosecutor’s office, around 00:15 at night, Russian occupiers employed a "Geran-2" drone aimed at the village of Oleksandrivka, part of the Bliudnykivska territorial community in Lozova district. As a result of a missile or drone strike, several residential buildings, a garage, a vehicle, and tractors parked nearby were damaged. Unfortunately, three civilians were wounded in the attack: two men aged 49 and 54 were hospitalized with injuries, and a 93-year-old woman experienced a severe stress reaction, which, for an elderly person, was yet another blow on this difficult day. Another episode of the attack occurred in the town of Valky, in the Bohodukhiv district. Around midnight, at 00:05, Russian snipers again employed a UAV—this time a typical combat drone, "Lantzet." The device was directed at a parked car nearby, which was significantly damaged, and a fence also sustained substantial harm. Fortunately, no residents were injured during this attack, but the tension and alertness remain extremely high. Preliminary data suggests that the Russians used these drones with the goal of directly destabilizing the situation and intimidating local residents. It is known that both the "Geran-2" and "Lantzet" are modern weapons capable of precise strikes and causing significant damage to infrastructure and homes directly on-site. This further confirms the enemy’s fatigue and increasingly targeted tactics, with multiple strikes repeated throughout the night, disrupting the peaceful life of the local population. Local authorities and law enforcement are urging residents to remain calm, follow safety protocols, and stay vigilant. The situation in Kharkiv region remains tense, with each new day presenting additional challenges in the fight for security and territorial integrity. The regional prosecutor’s office and security forces are investigating the attacks and call on everyone to be especially cautious and to report any suspicious circumstances or movements on the territory. These nocturnal attacks once again remind us that Kharkiv region remains at the center of enemy actions, and peaceful residents must constantly balance between day-to-day needs and maintaining their safety amid ongoing threats. Security personnel continue working to uncover all details of these incidents, but it is already clear— the fight for peace continues, and evil does not retreat. Regional leaders and human rights advocates emphasize the importance of being cautious and united in resisting aggression. At the same time, they call on the international community to increase pressure on the aggressor country and support Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity. The war unfolding here, in Kharkiv region, is not only about gunfire and missiles but also a test of resilience and strength for every individual. Further updates on the situation will be provided in upcoming reports. But for now, the most important thing is to stay calm, exercise caution, and support each other during these difficult times.
