S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a series of important telephone conversations with European colleagues and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister regarding ways to achieve peace in Ukraine. These diplomatic discussions marked another step in international efforts to reduce tensions and address the ongoing crisis that has lasted for more than a year. According to information published on the official website of the U.S. Department of State, Rubio discussed the situation in Ukraine with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, as well as with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. They explored possible avenues for establishing a peaceful resolution to the conflict, including ceasefire initiatives and long-term peace prospects. Foreign ministers from countries such as France, Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom also joined the dialogue. Specifically, Rubio discussed prospects with Jean-Noël Barré, Johann Wadefuhl, Radosław Sikorski, and David Lerry. It is important to emphasize that all participants of these negotiations shared a common goal of finding solutions for the Ukrainian conflict, which has caused human suffering and destruction for over a year. At the time of these diplomatic contacts, Marco Rubio was in Saudi Arabia, specifically in Riyadh. It should be noted that he is accompanying U.S. President Donald Trump on his official trip to the Gulf countries, scheduled from May 11 to 14, covering Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This trip is of strategic importance for Washington, particularly in the context of regional security and the strengthening of intergovernmental alliances. After completing his stay in Saudi Arabia, Rubio plans to travel to Turkey, where for the second time this year, an informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers will take place. The meeting is scheduled for May 14–16 in Antalya. The main topic of discussion will be strengthening the Alliance’s security priorities, including increasing investments in national defense capabilities, as well as exploring ways to accelerate the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine, which has become one of the most serious crises of modern times. The long journey toward peaceful resolution continues, and joint diplomatic efforts remain the primary hope for the Ukrainian people. The international community insists on the necessity of resuming dialogue and diplomacy to stop the bloodshed and give Ukraine the opportunity to rebuild its future in a world of peace and stability.
