In the context of rising international tensions and active efforts to find ways to resolve the conflict on Ukrainian territory, an important phone conversation took place on May 10 between key global leaders. According to information disseminated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha on his Telegram channel, the call was attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky, leaders of four major European countries – Germany, France, Poland, and the United Kingdom – as well as their American counterpart, Donald Trump. This conversation was a logical conclusion to the large-scale meeting of the "Decisive Coalition" that took place in Kyiv. According to the Ukrainian diplomat, the participants discussed ways to achieve peace and stop hostilities. He emphasized that all five leaders expressed a joint readiness to implement an unprecedented ceasefire, which would last at least 30 days and should begin as early as Monday. “The aggressor must agree, and ensuring effective monitoring of the ceasefire is a critical element. Only then can progress be expected toward long-term peace and the start of genuine negotiations,” Sybiha told Ukrainian media. He added that the main condition is strict control over compliance with the truce to prevent any violations and to provide a stable foundation for further diplomatic efforts. Prior to this, even before the phone call, the leaders of France, Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom issued a joint call to Russia for an immediate and unconditional 30-day ceasefire. This appeal was made ahead of the arrival of representatives from these countries in Kyiv and served as an important diplomatic gesture of support for Ukrainian peace efforts. On the other hand, Donald Trump, in his statement on May 8, commenting on the possible ceasefire announced by Ukraine, expressed a desire to adhere specifically to the 30-day unconditional ceasefire. He emphasized that achieving peace requires not promises but real actions and cooperation from all parties involved in the conflict. Recently, the international agency Reuters reported that the United States, in cooperation with European allies, is actively working on a proposal to announce a 30-day pause in hostilities between Russia and Ukraine. The source indicated that this initiative has not yet been officially approved, but discussions are ongoing and it is expected to become a key item on the agenda of the "Decisive Coalition" summit planned for the upcoming weekend in Ukraine. Thus, the international community, including the U.S. leadership and the most influential European countries, is demonstrating maximum activity in seeking a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, aiming to lay the foundation for long-awaited peace. It is worth noting that all signs point to the fact that the issue of a 30-day ceasefire remains central on the agenda, and its final implementation depends on the parties’ willingness to compromise and make significant concessions.
