Russian occupiers have increased their activity on the key Pokrovsk direction, advancing deeper into Ukrainian defenses, which has become one of the most intense situations in the eastern part of the country

This was reported today by the analytical project DeepState, which, on the night of May 9 to 10, published data about significant aggression by the enemy in Donetsk region. According to sources from DeepState, the Russian armed forces achieved local successes near the settlements of Romanivka, Oleksandropil, and Novopoltavka. These regions are situated along the strategic Pokrovsk direction, which has remained one of the most active and heated fronts from the very beginning of the war. The enemy’s advances present new challenges for Ukrainian defenders, as these territories hold important tactical and strategic value. In addition to clarifying the situation, it should be noted that Russia officially announced the implementation of a so-called three-day ceasefire, which was supposed to start at 00:00 on May 8. This decision was announced by President Vladimir Putin as a unilateral act intended to create the illusion of a “change in the combat mode.” However, the Ukrainian side, including Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga, immediately doubted the sincerity of these intentions and confirmed that Russian troops continued to attack Ukrainian positions along the entire front line on the very first day of the declared ceasefire. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least 162 combat clashes took place on the front from the beginning of May 9. This reinforces the conclusion that the “ceasefire” was a figment, and hostilities in Ukraine continue as usual. Of these, 51 conflicts occurred specifically in the Pokrovsk direction, indicating its particularly tense situation. Overall, the situation remains dynamic and unpredictable. Ukrainian troops bravely hold the defense and repel the occupiers, despite increased enemy activity and provocative statements from the press and Kremlin leaders. With each passing day, this fighting intensifies further, creating new challenges for the protection of Ukrainian territories and the preservation of the country’s sovereignty.
