At a closed meeting with leading donors in Florida, Donald Trump admitted that resolving international conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, has proven to be much more difficult and complicated than he previously imagined

In a conversation with party financiers, the former president and U.S. presidential candidate expressed his deep disappointment and confided that he cannot sleep at night due to a series of failures in foreign policy. According to sources present at the meeting, Trump did not hide his emotions or constant concerns about efforts to end the war, which Russia initiated against Ukraine. He noted that attempts at diplomatic settlement of the conflict have been met with increasing dissatisfaction and insomnia: "This is a growing disappointment," emphasized the former president. At the same time, he highlighted that negotiations with Vladimir Putin constitute one of the most challenging diplomatic tasks he has faced. According to Trump, the Russian leader seeks to obtain as much as possible, hinting at Ukrainian territories and spheres of influence, which significantly complicates the search for compromise. The former president also recalled his pre-election promises to end the war. During his campaign, Trump assured that he could quickly bring conflicts to an end. Specifically, he claimed that under his leadership, the war in Ukraine, as well as conflicts in Syria or the Middle East, would not even reach an active phase. He even promised that "he could end the war in Ukraine on day one" after returning to the White House. However, over three months have passed since the start of his second term, and the situation remains unresolved: negotiations over Iran's nuclear program have reached a deadlock, and the trade war between the U.S. and other countries continues to worsen international relations. Sources report that during private talks with advisors, Trump did not hide the fact that Russia refuses to make concessions. He expressed surprise and even disappointment regarding Putin’s role, emphasizing that Moscow allegedly has no intention of ending the war and is actively complicating the negotiation process. Particular concern is raised by the direct military actions of Russian forces, especially airstrikes in areas where children are present, which causes outrage in the international community and Western countries. Recently, high-ranking officials in the Trump administration acknowledged that Russia remains the main obstacle on the path to peace in Ukraine. They reported that Moscow refuses to agree to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire, which Kyiv already supports, and instead demands additional concessions from Ukraine. It is also significant that, according to U.S. officials, Trump might consider the fact of direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia as an achievement, as this step is an important signal towards possible resolution of the conflict. At the same time, frustration is observed in the White House and political circles that, during his second term, active efforts to end the war have not yet materialized. Official representatives emphasize that further escalation and resolution of the conflict should involve the absence of direct active U.S. involvement, allowing the countries to concentrate more on internal priorities and stabilize the situation within their own political space. Meanwhile, the question of when and how full peace can be achieved remains open and unpredictable — and this topic continues to overshadow the political discourse in Washington and the entire international community.
