This tragic event serves as evidence that even after the so-called "three-day ceasefire" declared by the Russian leadership, Russian troops continue to deliberately attack civilians and regional infrastructure. The incident occurred in the Rychkivska community in Sumy region. According to information provided by the regional prosecutor’s office, on the evening of May 8, Russian troops dropped at least eight guided aerial bombs on the community’s territory. As a result of this horrific attack, residential buildings were damaged, and, unfortunately, a 63-year-old local resident was killed. The region’s prosecutor’s office press center reported this. According to official information, the morning of May 9 brought yet another sad news: during a survey of the territory of one household, the body of a woman without signs of life was found. The prosecutor’s office noted that a criminal investigation has been initiated into the deliberate murder and intentional property damage as a result of criminal actions by the occupiers. This is not the first case of Russian troops violating peaceful regions of Ukraine, despite the declared "ceasefire" and the Minsk agreements. Just the day before, on May 8, another person was killed during nocturnal attacks in Sumy region, and two others were seriously wounded. Reports of these destructions and human casualties serve as a stark confirmation that the Russian army continues to deliberately attack civilians, disregarding international norms and human lives. This tragedy once again reminds the international community and Ukraine of the need to strengthen defense measures and international pressure on the aggressor country to stop war crimes and hold those responsible accountable. Local residents, risking their lives, hope that the global community will not remain indifferent to this tragedy and will do everything possible to stop the destructive actions of the Russian occupation forces in peaceful regions of Ukraine.
