Russian drones have once again carried out strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region, causing destruction and casualties

During the night of May 8, the aggressor country's military used kamikaze drones in two settlements in the region, resulting in one civilian injured and, according to official reports, the death of one person. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the attacks were extensive and targeted. "As a result of a Russian drone attack on the city of Bilenke, a 45-year-old man was wounded. The victim received necessary medical assistance. In the same settlement, a vehicle was damaged. Another strike was recorded in Malokaterynivka — fortunately, there were no human casualties or infrastructure damages in that case," commented the region’s head. An official representative of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Police added that at least seven human losses occurred in the region due to Russian attacks over the past day. "Unfortunately, one of these cases was fatal. In the Primorsky district, a woman aged 63 was killed when a Russian FPV drone hit a civilian vehicle," the police representative reported. He also noted that enemy activity was especially high: over the course of the day, 150 strike drones were used, and more than 70 artillery shellings targeted cities and villages in the region. According to local police, the shellings led to the destruction of residential and civilian infrastructure, caused panic, and injured residents. Over the course of a day, more than nine reports of infrastructure damage were registered. It is important to emphasize that the Zaporizhzhia police strongly urge residents to refrain from being in shelters until it is safe, and in case of a threat requiring urgent evacuation, to immediately call the dedicated hotline at 102. Eyewitnesses and local authorities emphasize that the security situation remains extremely tense. The Russian army systematically employs kamikaze drones, launching waves of attacks that cause panic and destruction in cities and villages across the region. Local authorities call on citizens not to ignore alarm signals, to stay in shelters, and to be cautious until the situation stabilizes. The Zaporizhzhia region, which has been under shelling for a long time, continues to be the epicenter of intense fighting and attacks involving modern, dangerous weapons. Local authorities appeal to the international community and Ukrainian allies to strengthen support for the development of air defense systems in order to reduce casualties and prevent new destruction and human tragedies.
