The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has once again demonstrated the evident incapacity of the Russian occupying forces to keep their promises regarding a “ceasefire
" According to official information announced by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Moscow’s "grandiose ceasefire" has turned out to be yet another farce, confirmed by ongoing fighting and destruction at the front. Based on intelligence reports from Ukrainian military command, Russian troops continue large-scale attacks along the entire front line despite official statements from the Kremlin about a ceasefire. "I just had a conversation with the Ukrainian Armed Forces command, who informed us of a critical situation at the front. According to their information, Putin’s 'grand ceasefire' is a complete farce. Our military reports that from midnight until noon, the Russians committed over 730 violations of the ceasefire regime, and conducted 63 assault operations. Of these, 23 are still ongoing. They shelled Ukrainian positions at least 586 times, using heavy artillery in 464 cases, and also employed drones to carry out strikes — a total of 176 such attacks. Additionally, there have been 10 airstrikes involving 16 guided bombs," the diplomat stated in direct speech. The Minister noted that all obtained information about Russian shelling will be shared with key international partners, including the United States and the European Union, to ensure they are aware of the true situation and can respond appropriately. At the same time, Ukraine affirms its readiness for maximum patience and restraint but also emphasizes that Kyiv remains open to the possibility of concluding a ceasefire lasting at least 30 days. This is an important signal of openness to diplomatic negotiations, but also underscores the need for clear implementation from Russia. Background to this conflict includes the announcement that Russia declared the start of a so-called three-day ceasefire effective from 00:00 on May 8, initiated unilaterally by Vladimir Putin. However, Ukrainian military and analytical circles have unanimously confirmed that Moscow’s statement is difficult to regard as a genuinely serious initiative. Ukrainian Air Forces reported on the morning of May 8 that no hostile drones had been detected in the air since the start of the day; instead, the enemy intensified strikes with tactical aircraft. Meanwhile, the situation in the Kharkiv region has worsened: within just a few hours of Russian shelling, a third civilian casualty occurred — a peaceful woman was wounded in a drone strike on her vehicle on the morning of May 8. Additionally, in the Sumy region, one man died, and two others were injured as a result of Russian strikes using guided bombs. This once again proves that while Moscow proclaims a supposedly liberal act of ceasefire, actual warfare with no rules or limits continues on the front and in the rear zones. Such reports from the front cast doubt on the very idea of a "ceasefire" from Russia. Ukrainian military and diplomatic authorities warn the world: the character of the shelling and the scale of destruction prove that Russia has no intention of stopping its aggression and continues to support tactical destabilization not only at the front but also within international diplomatic circles. Therefore, the justified conclusion is that this "initiative" by the Kremlin appears more like an attempt to create a facade of peace for internal and international consumption, while in reality, the war is intensifying with renewed strength and greater audacity. In Ukrainian society and political circles, many have long believed that reality shows Moscow aims to use such a cynical period to regroup and create an illusion that Ukraine and the world are ready to compromise. However, the ongoing fighting, destruction, and human losses daily remind everyone that this so-called "ceasefire" is an absolute myth, fabricated to buy time and seek new opportunities to seize Ukrainian territory. Despite all this, the Ukrainian people and military remain steadfast in their commitment to defending independence and the country’s integrity, believing in a swift and just end to the war.
