Since the implementation of the so-called “Putin’s ceasefire,” Russian troops have not ceased attacks
On the contrary, active combat activity has been observed at the front line since 00:00 on May 8. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of 16:00, during this short period, the enemy carried out over 100 shellings of territories adjacent to the front line, and the number of clashes has already reached 117 cases of varying intensity. The source reports that Russian occupiers attack border villages in Sumy Oblast around the clock, aiming to maximize pressure on Ukrainian positions and contribute to achieving tactical goals along different directions. The most intense fighting on this day occurred in the Pavlohrad (Pokrovsky) direction, where 41 combat contacts were recorded. In the Lyman direction, the invaders conducted 17 attacks; in Kharkiv region, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled two attempts to break through, though one battle is still ongoing. In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy carried out three assault attacks; in the Siversk direction — two; in Kramatorsk — two; in Toretsk — five; in Novopavlivka — as many as 19; in Orikhiv — three; and two attempts to break through were made in the Dniprovsky direction. Especially active fighting took place in the Kursk direction as well, where Ukrainian defenders had to repel seven Russian attacks. It is noted that Ukrainian defenders demonstrate a high level of resilience and fighting spirit. The background to this critical situation is the official statement from Moscow, claiming that Ukraine must observe a three-day ceasefire starting from 00:00 on May 8. According to this declaration, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin announced the unilateral establishment of a "ceasefire" without consultations with the Ukrainian side. At the same time, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga immediately commented on this information, noting that Russian troops, contrary to their claims, continue attacks along the entire front line, thereby demonstrating their farce and inability to adhere to agreements. Overall, despite official reports from Moscow and hopes for a cessation of hostilities, the front remains tense and dynamic. Ukrainian military forces fight for every piece of territory, demonstrating unwavering will and resilience in resisting Russian aggression, while the international community continues to monitor the course of hostilities and insists on adherence to a ceasefire regime, which, judging by all indications, remains only a decorative element of declarative statements.
