Russian invaders do not intend to hide in the rear even during the declared so-called “ceasefire

" The entire night of May 8 became evidence of new armed shellings and attacks on peaceful settlements in Sumy region, once again confirming the cynicism of Russian tactics and their unwillingness to cease aggression even under the cover of the so-called "three-day ceasefire" officially announced by Russian authorities. According to reports from the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, on Sunday night, Russian forces dropped guided aerial bombs on residential areas of the region. One person was killed, and two others were wounded. All of this happened despite the Kremlin's statements about halting active hostilities. Citizens affected by the enemy strikes have become yet another tragic page in this war's history. Around 3 a.m., according to preliminary information, Russian military attacked a residence in the Mykolaiv community of the Sumy district, dropping a guided aerial bomb. As a result of this attack, a 55-year-old woman died in her home, and her 24-year-old son sustained severe injuries. This horrific incident once again underscores how cynically the Russians ignore human lives and entire settlements even during the so-called "ceasefire." A few hours later, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the occupiers repeated their attack, dropping another bomb on civilian infrastructure within the Vорожбянська community. Preliminary data indicate that a 70-year-old woman was injured in this shelling. This once again demonstrates Russia's intent to cynically destroy what remains of peaceful communities, disregarding any international agreements and statements on halting active hostilities. Currently, investigative authorities have already initiated criminal proceedings regarding these attacks. They are clarifying all circumstances and documenting crimes in order to hold the perpetrators accountable later. At the same time, these new crimes once again undermine the international community’s attempts to find a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, demonstrating Russia's inability to adhere even to minimal agreements and established norms of international law. According to reports from the Ukrainian Air Force, throughout the night, Russian forces intensified their tactical airstrikes and used guided bombs to attack civilian infrastructure objects in Sumy region. This confirms once more that despite the declared "ceasefire," Russia systematically violates all agreements and continues destroying Ukrainian cities, villages, and peaceful residents. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, together with law enforcement agencies, are increasing their efforts to resist and defend the region. However, this unexpected wave of night attacks once again underscores to the international community and all who seek peace — the ceasefire declared by Russia is a fleeting illusion, as the actions of the occupiers tell a different story. Amid these tragedies, Ukrainians realize that for peace and security, they must remain vigilant, united, and persistently fight for their independence and territorial integrity.
