Poltava region has once again come under attack by Russian rockets, despite the declared ceasefire

On the evening of May 8, when the region was relatively quiet, Russian forces resorted to another act of aggression, launching a missile aimed at peaceful settlements. Around 19:00, when the air raid siren sounded again in the Myrhorod district, Ukrainian air defense systems successfully responded to the enemy threat, shooting down the missile while it was still in the air. However, the aftermath of this attack affected the private sector of the district: due to the blast wave, several roofs and windows in private houses were damaged. According to Volodymyr Kogut, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, the situation remained under control, and the enemy’s pressure on this area was neutralized. He noted that, although a sabotage attempt occurred, there were no casualties or injuries: “Today, during the latest air raid in the Myrhorod district, the air defense system was operational. As a result of intercepting the enemy missile, the blast wave caused damage to the roofs and windows of private homes. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. I thank the air defense forces for their effective work and for protecting the population from the enemy,” he emphasized. This incident once again confirms that, despite the declared ceasefire, the Russian aggressor does not stop provoking and attempting to sow fear and destruction among the peaceful residents of Poltava region. Local residents, who have long been accustomed to constant alarms and shelling, remain tense but also express deep gratitude to the military personnel fighting for the region’s safety and neutralizing enemy targets. Poltava region continues to be one of the hottest spots in the military confrontation, and each incident proves that the territory is not safe for the enemy even during “ceasefire” periods. Local authorities and law enforcement call on residents to stay vigilant, follow safety rules, and remain calm, as each day brings new challenges and dangers that must be faced collectively.
