In Ukraine, significant precipitation and substantial cooling are forecasted: in the high mountains of the Carpathians, wet snow is expected, while most of the country will experience an extended rainy period
The current weather conditions continue to disappoint Ukrainians: meteorologists warn of falling temperatures and frequent rainfall, which may complicate transportation and cause additional inconveniences for residents. According to data from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the coming days will predominantly feature rainy weather across the country. Specifically, on May 9, light to moderate rain is expected over most of the territory, prompting residents to be prepared for adverse climatic conditions. During the day, significant rainfall may occur in most central and southern regions of Ukraine, whereas in northern and western areas, precipitation will be less intense or entirely absent. Temperature patterns are also notable. Nighttime temperatures are expected to range from 2 to 9 degrees Celsius, with possible ground frosts in the northwestern regions of between 0 and 5 degrees. Daytime temperatures will rise to between 8 and 16 degrees Celsius, while in the southeastern parts of the country, thermometers could reach up to 18 degrees Celsius. A variable wind originating from the north and northwest at speeds of 5–10 m/s will add to the chill and create additional atmospheric discomfort. Almost every key location in Ukraine is expected to experience rainfall and temperature fluctuations. For instance, on May 9 in Kyiv, rain is forecasted, with nighttime temperatures fluctuating from 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperatures rising to +11°C. A north wind at speeds of 5–10 m/s will enhance the cooling effect. On Saturday, May 10, a light rain is anticipated in the capital, with daytime temperatures reaching +13°C — weather conditions will remain challenging, with unsettled weather and short-lived showers again expected. Beyond Kyiv, the overall situation resembles prophetic forecasts: on May 11, most regions (excluding the southeast) will experience light rainfall. Night temperatures will range from 2 to 9 degrees Celsius, with possible ground frosts up to 0–5°C in the northeast. During the day, most of the country will enjoy comfortable temperatures from 8 to 16 degrees Celsius; however, in the southeast, the air may Warm up to 18°C in some areas. The situation will be particularly difficult in the highlands of the Carpathians, where risks of wet snow and rain will persist. Night temperatures there are forecasted to drop to 0–5 degrees Celsius below zero, while daytime temperatures will only reach 1–6 degrees Celsius above zero. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reported that harsh climatic conditions would remain in the high mountains until the end of the week. Thus, Ukrainians should prepare for changes in weather and climate conditions — frequent precipitation, falling temperatures, and an increased risk of ground frosts. These challenging weather conditions may complicate scheduled activities and will require residents to be more cautious and thoroughly prepared for hiking and travel in mountainous areas and open terrains.
