There is a tense situation in Cherkasy region due to a new series of Russian drone strikes, which have caused significant infrastructure damage and injuries among civilians

This is reported by Igor Taburets, head of the regional military administration, as well as the press service of the National Police of the region. The deputy head of the regional military administration emphasized that the tension along the border with Russia persisted throughout May 7, when the enemy launched a massive attack on the Cherkasy region using combat drones, resulting in destruction and human casualties. According to Igor Taburets, the consequences of missile and drone attacks include damage to critical infrastructure facilities, including warehouses, residential buildings, and public institutions. Specifically, in the Uman district, drone debris damaged the roof of a rural outpatient clinic, as well as several cars parked nearby. During the day, objects in the Zvenyhorodka district also sustained damage: a local kindergarten and the village council suffered cracks due to broken windows, which were a consequence of destruction in the settlements. In the evening, the enemy reactivated and again targeted the region with strike drones. The main targets were the city of Uman and surrounding villages, where there was a threat to residents and risk of destruction of residential housing. Photo documentation released by Igor Taburets and the National Police shows the extent of the damage — specifically, broken windows in a kindergarten and the local administration, as well as doors and windows destroyed in certain private homes. law enforcement sources report that as a result of the shelling in Dmitrushky, fragments of Russian drones wounded a local man. The victim was promptly hospitalized, with his condition assessed as stable, though urgent medical aid was needed. No other serious injuries have been reported in this area at present. What preceded these events? On the night of May 7, the enemy army launched a large-scale attack on Kyiv, using ballistic missiles and 28 kamikaze drones. It is noted that 11 drones and one missile were neutralized, which helped protect the capital and significantly reduced the scale of destruction. Simultaneously, debris from the downed UAVs caused an emergency power outage in the Poltava district, complicating the situation for local residents. Amid these massive attacks, Ukrainian authorities are calling on the population to remain vigilant and follow safety rules. Ukrainian military officials emphasize that the Armed Forces actively work on detecting and neutralizing kamikaze drones, as well as taking necessary measures to minimize destruction and human casualties. However, this extremely tense war continues, and residents of Cherkasy and all of Ukraine remain in a state of constant readiness for new challenges and threats of aggression from Russia.
