This decision was announced and continues to be relevant in the context of preparations for Victory Day celebrations – one of the most important dates in Russian history, symbolizing the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, emphasized in a comment for the Russian news agency TASS that Moscow’s position on a truce is clear and well understood: “Russia’s stance on the ceasefire is well known; all appropriate instructions have already been given, and no new orders or changes have been introduced at this time.” Regarding this, he added that according to the government’s plan, all measures related to announcing and adhering to the ceasefire regime remain in effect and are under the control of the relevant authorities. Additionally, Peskov informed about measures being taken in Moscow ahead of the holiday dates. Specifically, in connection with the Victory Day anniversary, temporary restrictions on mobile internet have been introduced in the capital. According to him, this decision was made due to “dangerous proximity,” which could create difficulties or even threats to public safety during the festive period. The press secretary stressed that such measures should be approached with understanding and patience, as the goal is to ensure safety and stability during large-scale celebrations. Regarding the actual celebrations, he emphasized that Russian authorities are making every effort to ensure that the festivities proceed in a calm and peaceful environment. Maintaining order and security is an integral part of these measures, allowing every citizen to honor the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in comfortable conditions. Every minute, attention grows regarding whether the planned ceasefire mechanisms from May 8 to May 10 will be maintained and what measures will be taken to guarantee safety during the celebrations. At the same time, the official position of the Kremlin remains unchanged: the initiative for a temporary cessation of hostilities is being observed, and international attention is focused not only on preparing for the parade but also on possible political and security consequences in the region. In Moscow and other Russian cities, active preparations continue for the ceremonial events and celebrations. Meanwhile, authorities continue monitoring the situation around possible violations or unforeseen incidents, hoping that the festivities will take place in a calm and dignified atmosphere, honoring the 78th anniversary of victory in World War II.
