President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this on his official Telegram channel. According to him, as of the morning of May 7, dozens of drones remained in Ukraine's airspace, continuing their dangerous flight and posing a potential threat to civilians and infrastructure. Zelensky explained that the strikes were carried out in several major regions of the country, specifically targeting Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kherson, and Dnipropetrovsk. The most severe attacks occurred at night, when cities were hit by missile and drone strikes: Kyiv services were already working at the sites of the incidents, eliminating consequences and evacuating victims. He stated that at least 7 people were injured as a result of these attacks, including 4 children, and sadly there are casualties— a woman and her son. The head of state sincerely expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. Zelensky also noted that the attacks were not sporadic but highly concentrated and systematic, particularly targeting the cities of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, and Kherson. He emphasized that the enemy used various types of weapons, including ballistic missiles and aerial bombs. Specifically, in Velyka Chernikhivka in Sumy region, the Russians initially struck with a ballistic missile, then used aerial bombs, and while firefighters were already working to extinguish the aftermath, they continued shelling the area. Appealing to the international community, Zelensky expressed confidence that only increasing pressure on Russia through sanctions and international measures can accelerate the diplomatic resolution process. He emphasized that any actions reducing the aggressor country's ability to wage war should be taken without delay to achieve long-term peace. Volodymyr Zelensky once again thanked the partners assisting Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression, particularly in matters of air defense (air defense systems). The President stressed that Russia must be held accountable for its actions, and that the world must maintain unity and perseverance in the fight for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. The background to this morning's report was the information that earlier, in the early hours of May 7, Kyiv experienced another enemy attack — the city was hit by a ballistic missile and drones. As a result, two people were killed, and eight others were injured of varying severity, including four children. The Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) reported that 11 out of 28 UAVs launched by the enemy were destroyed, three were lost at the location, and 10 UAVs remained in Kyiv's airspace. This once again demonstrates the scale and complexity of the confrontation that holds Ukrainian skies.
