President Zelensky, using rhetoric about justice and balance in the sky, again emphasizes the ongoing war, which has been continuing for over a year and affects every aspect of Ukrainian society’s life

In his address on May 7, the head of state highlighted that the unrest in the sky is not only Ukraine's response to numerous missile and drone attacks by Russian forces but also a mirror reflection of Russian aggression, which continues its war without interruption, deliberately maintaining a high level of tension to prevent the scale from decreasing. Zelensky commented on the current situation amid recent massive strikes, assuring that Ukraine remains open to diplomatic resolution and insists on a ceasefire for at least thirty days. In his view, this could present an opportunity for diplomats to find a way out of the deadlock in which the country finds itself. At the same time, the President emphasized that the global community currently receives no signs of readiness from Russia for peace negotiations — all attempts by Ukraine to discuss only one final decision are met with new missile and drone strikes. "It is from Russia that the world does not see an answer — no proposals, no steps toward peace. They continue to sow death and destruction," Zelensky underscored, adding that it is time for Russia to stop its aggressive policies, and that moment will inevitably come. According to him, it is only a matter of time, and the war itself is a loss for everyone, including the aggressor, because its outcome will inevitably have negative consequences not only for Ukraine but also for Russia and the entire world. The head of state announced that sanctions pressure on Russia will be intensified, and new decisions in this direction are expected in the near future. This will be yet another step in international efforts to pressure the aggressor country to stop the war and return to diplomatic solutions to resolve the conflict. Zelensky also reported on the results of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi's briefing on active Ukrainian defense operations near several Russian regions — Kursk and Belgorod. This demonstrates that the Ukrainian army actively monitors and responds to threats from the aggressor, clearly showing the ability of Ukrainian military forces to defend their land and hold territory. It is worth noting that on the eve of and on May 7 itself, Russian aviators and security forces suffered significant losses. Several Russian airlines were forced to cancel dozens of domestic and international flights due to a large-scale drone attack across the country. On the night of May 7, unknown drones attacked defense industry facilities even in remote regions of Russia, causing fires and destruction. Russian authorities mentioned the issue of air defense — reports claimed that about seven drones flying toward Moscow were supposedly shot down. Additionally, due to the threat of further drone attacks, Russia's Sheremetyevo Airport was closed, causing significant delays and disruptions in air traffic. This series of events underscores that the war and its consequences go far beyond Ukraine, turning into a global crisis that inevitably impacts both military and economic security of societies. Ukraine’s position remains unequivocal — open to dialogue, but striving for a just peace that guarantees the security and sovereignty of the country. Yet, on the front lines and in diplomatic arenas, new challenges and threats prevail, forcing Ukrainian defenders and politicians to stay vigilant and act in accordance with the highest standards of resilience and responsibility.
