On the night of May 7 to 8, Kyiv was again struck by attacks from Russian invaders, who launched a large-scale assault using missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles
According to representatives of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), Ukrainian air defense systems managed to neutralize most of the threats, destroying one ballistic missile and 11 drones, while several other targets were either lost or left the airspace over the capital. Military reports indicate that since the beginning of the night, there was a detected launch of one ballistic target and 28 kamikaze drones of Russian origin in Kyiv's sky. Thanks to the work of the air defense systems, many of them were intercepted in flight. Specifically, 11 UAVs were shot down, another ten successfully left the city’s airspace, and three drones were location-lost, meaning they could not be definitively shot down or their fall sites identified. A destroyed missile fell in the Solomianskyi district of the capital, causing minor damage to non-residential infrastructure. Fortunately, rescuers quickly extinguished the fire caused by the fall, resulting in only one person injured. Authorities urge residents to exercise caution and not approach the debris of destroyed UAVs: "If you find or notice debris from enemy drones, do not attempt to pick them up or move them under any circumstances — immediately call 101!" emphasized the KCMA. The night’s events are quite tragic: on the eve, early Tuesday morning, Kyiv experienced strikes by the Russians, which resulted in the death of two people and injuries to eight others, including four children. At that time, the enemy shelling was declared massive, and the explosions once again reminded us that the capital remains under the target of the aggressor and is subject to nearly continuous attacks. Overall, the situation in Kyiv remains tense — the enemy continues to use various means of attack, aiming to sow panic and destroy the city’s infrastructure. Ukrainian defenders and air defense systems work daily to minimize casualties and prevent widespread destruction, but each new attack serves as a reminder of the constant danger looming over the capital.
