On the night of May 6 to 7, Ukrainian security forces carried out a new series of sabotage strikes against Russian defense enterprises, inflicting significant damage on two strategic facilities deep within Russia’s territory
An official source close to Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the information, noting that such high-precision hits represent another step in the plan to reduce Russia’s military capabilities and increase pressure on its military-industrial complex. According to the obtained data, the strikes targeted two key enterprises — the "Basalt" plant in the city of Krasnoarmeysk, Moscow Oblast, and the "Splav" plant in Tula. Both facilities are crucial for the Russian military machine: the first is the main site for the country's manufacturing of weapons and ammunition for all branches of the Russian Armed Forces, and the second is the only enterprise in Russia engaged in designing and producing rocket artillery systems and their ammunition. Eyewitnesses from the area reported that hurricane-like air or drone strikes caused a series of powerful explosions. At least seven detonations were recorded at one of the factories in Krasnoarmeysk, after which large fires broke out and smoke billowed from the facility. A similar situation was observed at "Splav" — drone strikes led to a spreading fire and smoke, complicating operations at the plant and creating additional chaos with fire in Tula. It is noted that the aftermath of these actions led to the introduction of a state of emergency called "Cover" in the Moscow Oblast, which involves the closure of air traffic and increased security measures in the region. This, in turn, caused serious transportation disruptions: hundreds of domestic and international flights were canceled, resulting in a transport collapse in the areas closest to the targeted facilities. During this emergency, infrastructure faced further difficulties due to the mass cancellation of flights and movement restrictions. A Defense Forces source emphasizes that the actions of Ukrainian special services are targeted and align with the principles of discriminative engagement of military-industrial facilities that contribute to Russian aggression against Ukraine. He underlined that, unlike Russian military forces, which attack civilian cities with multi-story buildings and civilian objects, Ukrainian security agencies focus on destroying production infrastructure vital for military objectives. "The work to weaken Russia’s military capabilities will continue," the interlocutor concluded. These strikes are yet another indication that Ukrainian special services increasingly utilize unmanned systems to destroy military targets deep in the aggressor’s territory, demonstrating the ability to strike objects of strategic importance for Russia’s military machinery. This adds to the arguments in the ongoing effort to weaken Russian military capacity and strengthen Ukraine’s defense potential.
