As a result of a missile attack on Kyiv in the morning of May 7, a tragic event took place: two people died, and several others were injured, including four children who found themselves in difficult circumstances due to the destructive blow by the enemy
This incident once again reminded us of the high level of danger posed daily by Russian aggression, which does not limit itself to bombings but also causes the destruction of residential neighborhoods, casualties, and panic within the city. According to official information released by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), the morning in Kyiv began with a series of explosions and debris impacts, triggering large-scale rescue operations. Emergency responders reported that they were working in several districts of the city, including Sviatošynskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts. At the scenes of the incidents, rescue teams attempted to ensure safety and assist those affected, but the situation remained tense. Near the Sviatošynskyi district, fragments hit one of the multi-story buildings—a nine-story residential complex that sustained significant damage. Debris shattered windows and destroyed parts of the façade, and fires broke out in apartments on the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth floors. The fire covered an area of about 100 square meters, and firefighters quickly began extinguishing it. As a result of these events, five residents were rescued, including one adult and three children with burns, while three other children with injuries were hospitalized for further treatment. Rescue efforts are still ongoing, as the consequences of the attack are complex and require additional effort. In the Solomianskyi district, the situation was less destructive: debris from a UAV (drone) fell onto open territory, causing no damage or casualties. Meanwhile, in the Dniprovskyi district, a more serious incident occurred—debris from a drone fell onto a multi-story residential building, causing substantial structural damage. According to rescuers, there was partial destruction of floors on the 29th and 30th stories, but, surprisingly, there were no fires or human casualties. Fire crews worked on-site to extinguish the fires quickly and assisted residents in escaping from the hazardous zone. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, debris also fell from the sky onto a five-story residential building. Fires were recorded on the third and fifth floors of the apartments. During firefighting efforts, rescuers found the bodies of two people, which became yet another horrific consequence of the enemy night's attack. The fires were quickly brought under control, but grief and destruction remained. This situation once again underscores how dangerous and unpredictable Russian strikes are—they destroy peaceful life in Kyiv, scar the fates of residents, and foster an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. Local services made every effort to minimize the attack’s consequences and extinguish the fires, but there was little to rejoice about—tragedy was compounded by the loss of lives. Kyiv remains under constant threat, and each day here is a battle for the safety and lives of its residents, marked by waves of destruction and desperate hope for a swift end to the conflict. It is to be hoped that the relevant services will continue working efficiently and be able to save even more lives in the future, as decisive actions today can reduce casualties and bring peace back to the Ukrainian capital’s heart.
