The head of Kharkiv region, Oleh Sinegubov, demonstrated the destructive consequences of the missile attack that struck the city’s largest shopping center — the Barabashovo market
The incident occurred on May 6 and was one of the most vivid manifestations of Russian military aggression against peaceful residents and infrastructure in Kharkiv, provoking outrage and concern among the public. In his social media post, the regional leader detailed the extent of the destruction, emphasizing that this facility is strictly civilian and located far from any military targets. "The Russian army shelled the largest market in the city, which is visited daily by dozens of people for shopping. There is no military object or potential military infrastructure near this area," he stressed, confirming that this was a cynical act of terror aimed at the civilian population. According to Sinegubov, approximately 90 trading outlets were affected by the strike on Barabashovo. Most of them suffered significant damage, and 20 shops were completely burned down. The fire, caused by the missile attack and drone activities, quickly covered an area of over 500 square meters. Rescue services responded promptly to the fire, taking all necessary measures to extinguish it and evacuate people nearby. This incident once again highlights the risks and destructive consequences of military actions in Kharkiv and raises the issue of the need to strengthen the protection of civilians. Local authorities and security services are already working to establish all circumstances and potential measures to prevent similar outcomes in the future. At the same time, the city community calls on international organizations to intensify assistance in protecting peaceful residents and preserving Kharkiv's infrastructure from persistent enemy strikes.
