Russian occupiers have once again launched a large-scale missile attack on Kharkiv, firing more than twenty unmanned aerial vehicles of the “Geran-2” type at the city

This nighttime assault brought destruction, tears, and anxiety to the residents of one of Ukraine’s largest and most prosperous cities. According to Oleg Synyehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the armed forces of the aggressor carried out strikes in four districts of the city — Shevchenkivskyi, Kyivskyi, Industrial, and Kholodnohirska. Approximately twenty drones and missiles were involved in total, most targeting industrial and residential facilities. The occupiers, apparently, are trying to intimidate residents and destroy the city’s critical infrastructure, which is already under pressure from the enemy. The most significant damage was recorded at the Barabashovo market — one of Kharkiv’s symbols and its most important trading hub. According to Synyehubov, a major fire broke out as a result of the attack. The blaze engulfed about twenty market pavilions, with nearly a hundred more suffering serious damage. Additionally, multi-story residential buildings and parked vehicles fell under the attack, ending up in the zone of hostilities. Fortunately, a few people were injured in the attacks — currently, reports indicate 11 residents of the region have been wounded. They sustained minor injuries and are already receiving necessary medical care. It is worth noting that many Kharkiv residents are under emotional stress due to these attacks, as the shelling is becoming more frequent and extensive. Further details of the strike’s intensity are provided by the State Emergency Service. In total, the occupiers deployed 8 cruise missiles, 7 FPV drones, and 20 "Geran-2" UAVs across the region. Unfortunately, the strike on Kharkiv is only part of the systematic actions by the enemy on Ukraine’s southeastern borders, which have increased in frequency since the start of the prolonged war. Overall, from the evening of May 6 to the morning of May 7, massive shelling was recorded in the Kharkiv region. In the Izyum district, 14 private houses were damaged; in the Kupiansk district, two private residences, a warehouse, and two vehicles were affected; and in the Kharkiv district, another eight private homes and a fire station that protects the city’s peace were hit. The consequences of these repeated strikes highlight the ongoing threat and the necessity of continuous air raid alerts and mobilization efforts. The background to these events was the massive nighttime raid on May 6, when Russian forces used drones to attack Kharkiv. Over two hours, the city’s sky was lit by multiple strikes — at least 20 hits were recorded in different districts. Fortunately, only a few people were injured in that raid — all have been taken to medical facilities, and their lives are currently not in danger. However, human losses and destruction clearly indicate deliberate enemy actions aimed at destabilizing and undermining Kharkiv’s resilience. This new episode of military activity again underscores the chronic danger facing the city, which has already become accustomed to regular shelling and destruction. Citizens and the military feel the need to maintain combat resilience and support each other during this difficult time. While the situation remains tense, Ukrainian authorities and civil protection services continue working on restoring damaged infrastructure and countering new attacks to ensure security and stability in the region.
