At the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff of Ukraine, active attention was given to issues related to countering modern unmanned systems, particularly the interception of “Shahed” attack drones using the latest technologies, including other drone-interceptors

This issue has become especially relevant in the context of the Armed Forces' efforts to enhance defense capabilities and protect Ukrainian skies from enemy unmanned attacks. During the discussion held on Tuesday, the country's leadership reviewed the progress of implementing this technological strategy, as well as future steps for its large-scale deployment. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, improving the efficiency of air defense systems is crucial so that the ability to destroy "Shaheds" becomes one of Ukraine’s key components of its defense strategy in the war against the Russian aggressor. Addressing the participants of the meeting, Zelenskyy emphasized: "Another important topic raised today at the Staff is the protection of Ukrainian skies, specifically intercepting 'Shaheds' using other drones. This is one of the cutting-edge technologies of modern warfare, and I sincerely thank everyone working actively on its implementation. It allows our army to leverage a new opportunity — to defend the country not only with traditional means but also through unmanned systems, which themselves become a defensive shield in the war against aggressor drones." During the discussion, the head of state instructed relevant ministries — the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — to intensify cooperation with international partners to ensure funding and rapid production of such interceptors. According to Zelenskyy, this direction of air defense system development is a priority, as it significantly enhances Ukraine’s ability to counter modern enemy drones and secure its skies from massive attacks. The President emphasized that, given the scale of the threats, each region in the country will bear its own responsibility for the effective implementation and use of these systems. He stated, "We will develop this direction to the maximum and establish dedicated control and countermeasure centers in each region. This is necessary to ensure the stability and security of our citizens." Overall, during the meeting of the Staff, a strategic direction for further development of defense infrastructure was identified, with an emphasis on utilizing innovative technologies in air defense. This approach demonstrates the Ukrainian leadership’s commitment not only to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities but also to elevate it to the forefront of modern military technologies.
