On the night of May 6, a traffic accident took place in Poland involving a bus carrying American military personnel. Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle veered off the road, resulting in serious consequences and injuries to several passengers. The incident occurred near one of the wetlands in Wrocław when a bus with 35 people on board — mostly American soldiers — was traveling from Germany to Lithuania. It has been initially established that this was just one of three buses following the route, and it was the one that left the roadway, went into a ditch, and overturned. According to information from the Polish Armed Forces General Staff press office, spokeswoman Colonel Joanna Klejsmit announced that there were 35 people on the bus, including service members of Ukrainian origin, who were conducting interstate transportation through Polish territory as part of multinational military deployment locations. As a result of the accident, eight of them sustained injuries of varying severity. Medical personnel who quickly arrived at the scene provided first aid to the injured and organized their evacuation to nearby hospitals. The vehicle was driven by an experienced driver, and despite significant damage to the bus, other buses were arranged to complete the journey for its passengers. Eyewitnesses reported that the victims complained of headaches and neck pain, but their condition is considered stable, and they received the necessary medical assistance. This incident is yet another in a series of road accidents involving military buses in Poland. It is worth noting that at the end of March, a major accident involving four buses carrying service members occurred in a northern region of the country. Thirty-six people were injured in that crash, several of whom were in critical condition. Earlier, at the end of March, near the Pomeranian Voivodeship, two soldiers sustained minor injuries in a collision involving several vehicles. Official representatives of the Polish police and military emphasize the importance of stricter monitoring of traffic conditions in areas with military convoys and the need to enhance safety measures during the movement of military equipment within the country, which remains a key route for US and allied forces in Europe. Meanwhile, investigations into the circumstances of the latest accident are ongoing, and additional measures are planned to minimize the risks of similar incidents in the future.
