Russia has launched a new strike on Ukrainian Sumy Region: according to Ukrainian authorities, on Sunday, May 4th, a civilian resident of the region was killed as a result of shelling, and two others were wounded

This news again highlights the dangerous and chaotic nature of the ongoing war in eastern Ukraine and underscores the level of destruction and human losses faced by the local population. According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the tense situation in the region remained after the weekend. In particular, in Velyka Pysarivka, Russian forces used guided aerial bombs aimed at hitting residential neighborhoods. As a result, one civilian was killed. Local residents also report the destruction of residential buildings, damage to infrastructure, and temporary difficulties in ensuring vital services. There were also shellings in Bilopillya. Enemy rockets of medium and rocket-artillery type struck residential areas of the city, damaging private houses, cutting power supplies, and disrupting gas pipelines. Emergency medical teams transported two women to the hospital, who were injured, including with injuries of varying severity. It is also reported that due to the shelling, the city’s electricity supply was temporarily cut off, complicating communication and provision of basic needs for the population. These new attacks once again demonstrate the unpredictable nature of military actions, their destructive force, and human casualties. Local authorities urge residents to remain calm and follow safety recommendations, as the threat continues. Ukrainian military and law enforcement agencies continue to work on sheltering the population, restoring damaged infrastructure, and locating and neutralizing enemy targets at the sites of shelling. The situation remains tense, and each new day brings new challenges for residents and defenders of the region.
