On the evening of May 3, residents of Cherkasy faced yet another wave of danger when Russian kamikaze drones struck the city again, leaving behind devastating damage. The State Emergency Service published a grim picture of destruction and human losses resulting from the enemy attack. According to official information from the State Emergency Service, five large-scale fires broke out as a result of the shelling, destroying residential apartments and city infrastructure. Rescue teams mobilized their efforts to eliminate the aftermath of the attack, but they fought long and tirelessly against fires that engulfed various facilities. Initially, residential buildings, including apartments in multi-storey blocks, caught fire; a country house and storage facilities of one of Cherkasy’s enterprises also burned down, along with dry vegetation, which rapidly spread the flames. According to reports from the State Emergency Service, the greatest damage was inflicted on apartments in two multi-storey buildings — on the first and second floors of a four-story dormitory. The fire penetrated the living spaces, destroying windows and partially damaging interior finishes. Although firefighters managed to contain the spread of the flames, one person was injured in the attack — they received timely medical assistance. Preceding these tragic events, it is reported that late in the evening of May 3, a series of loud explosions sounded in Cherkasy. These served as a warning to residents about the danger, prompting many to evacuate immediately or seek shelter. Following the strike, fires and destruction began, lasting several hours, while official authorities called on residents to remain calm and follow safety protocols. It is worth noting that this is not the first attack on Cherkasy by the Russian army. The city has repeatedly been targeted by enemy drones used for terror and reconnaissance gathering. Official reports emphasize that the enemy continues efforts to frighten the local population and destroy infrastructure. A review of photographs published by the State Emergency Service demonstrates the scale of destruction: broken windows, battered walls, burnt remnants of buildings, and traces of fires. Video evidence shared on social networks confirms that the situation in the city remains tense and requires prolonged efforts for recovery. Statements from Ukrainian officials and rescuers once again emphasized that Cherkasy remains under threat, as the enemy uses advanced means to intimidate and destroy. City authorities and security services urge residents to be cautious, not ignore alarm signals, and strictly follow safety rules. This attack once again underscores the importance of supporting the country’s defense capability and the need to enhance security measures across Ukraine. Cherkasy has not yet lost its resilience and continues to fight against the consequences of enemy actions, holding hope for swift recovery and victory over the aggressor.
