A large-scale educational project is underway in the Kherson region aimed at restoring and modernizing the school education system in affected areas

According to the local authorities’ decision, several communities—especially those most damaged by the war and now in the process of recovery—will have modern modular learning centers established. This will not only provide young people with the opportunity to acquire knowledge in comfortable conditions but also create additional resources to stabilize the educational process in the region. According to Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, this project has received support from the highest levels. He noted that during a recent visit to the region, Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, discussed the details of implementing the modular educational centers. The main idea is to create mobile and temporary learning spaces that will help meet the high demand for education in communities where, due to infrastructure destruction, hundreds of children are currently without traditional schools. Prokudin added that such an initiative will not only help preserve the educational process but also minimize the risks of social isolation for children who are forced to travel significant distances to educational institutions. Preliminary plans indicate that by the end of the year, several modular centers will be installed in the most affected settlements in Kherson region to quickly provide access to education for students. Additionally, the authorities plan to convert seven more schools located in de-occupied areas of the region to more flexible and modern forms of learning—blended and remote education. This decision aims not only to modernize the educational process but also to adapt it to new realities created by the war and efforts to overcome it. According to Prokudin, these measures will allow over 1,400 children to return to school, including about 380 who require additional assistance in getting to school. The program thus includes not only technical support but also social support, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn in safe conditions, even during difficult times. It is planned that these modular centers will become a key element in the education recovery system in Kherson. The authorities assure that the project implementation will proceed as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent a decline in educational standards and to provide suitable conditions for the development of the region’s younger generation.
