Serbian President Alexander Vučić has been discharged from the hospital and has now temporarily canceled all his scheduled events and public appearances

Information about his health status appeared on Saturday, May 3, after a brief hospitalization at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. According to sources, including Finance Minister Sinisa Malic, Vučić is feeling better; however, based on medical advice, he has decided not to hold any public events in the coming days and to remain under medical supervision. Minister Malic emphasized that the Serbian president was personally present when Vučić became unwell during a visit to the United States. At the same time, he highlighted the importance of this visit for Serbian diplomacy and the country’s security interests, considering the complex global political situation, changes in the American administration, as well as current issues related to tariffs and sanctions in the oil sector, which directly affect Serbia. In a comment to the Serbian television channel RTS, Finance Minister Malic stated: "We aimed to resolve as many important issues as possible that impact our citizens and the future of the country. In particular, our visit to the U.S. was very significant, as we were preparing for a joint participation in an informal meeting with President Trump, where we planned to discuss important regional and global topics. Unfortunately, during the organization of this event, Vučić’s health suddenly worsened, and he had to be hospitalized immediately. This unexpected incident complicated our diplomatic plans." The source adds that President Vučić has faced health issues before but expresses confidence in the leader’s rapid recovery. Malic reported: "This is already the fourth time Vučić has experienced similar symptoms. We hope for his quick recovery, and we are working with doctors to determine the exact diagnosis and to provide him with the necessary medical support." Preliminary reports indicate Vučić was transferred to the Military Medical Hospital in Belgrade for further examination. Doctors, including cardiologist Dragan Dinčić, openly stated that at present, there are significant reasons to doubt a swift return to full duty for the Serbian president. According to medical professionals, Vučić’s condition is currently assessed as stable, but due to his complex medical history and the current situation, he must remain under constant observation. Background information notes that Vučić recently promised to personally travel to Moscow to participate in the May 9 parade, demonstrating support for Russia. At the same time, during his visit to the United States, he suddenly fell ill and was forced to return to Serbia for medical examination. Even after his return, his health status caused concern among officials and medical personnel. Currently, Serbian society exhibits mixed reactions—on one hand, citizens express concern about their leader’s health; on the other, there are calls for caution in assessing his condition. It is known that Vučić has previously experienced similar health episodes, but diplomatic sources are confident that his return to active political work will only be possible after full recovery. All official events and contacts involving the president are now suspended. Observers note that his temporary absence may impact Serbia’s internal political situation and international stance, especially considering the importance of his foreign policy initiatives. Ahead of key diplomatic engagements and global challenges, the government calls for unity and patience, and the public is urged to trust the recovery process. It is hoped that in the coming days, Vučić will return to active duty and perform his responsibilities, with his health fully restored—currently a crucial factor for the stability and authority of the state.
