On Saturday, May 3, around midday, the city of Kherson—already repeatedly targeted by Russian forces—suffered another wave of attacks. At approximately 6 PM, local authorities reported another drone strike, which resulted in casualties and significant infrastructure damage. This marks the second targeted attack on the city center within one day, confirming the high level of tension and ongoing aggression from the occupation forces. According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, at least one person was killed during the attack, and two others were injured to varying degrees. Details of the incident indicate that Russian forces deliberately targeted densely populated areas—specifically the Soboda Square district and the Central Department Store (TSUM)—which are among the most crowded places in the city today. In his statement, the head of the OVA urged residents to refrain from visiting these areas in the coming days, warning of increased activity and danger posed by Russian drones. "I ask all Kherson residents to be careful and avoid risking your safety. There is heightened activity of enemy drone aircraft, complicating the situation and requiring maximum caution from the population," the message read. Earlier on the morning of May 3, around 12:50 PM, events unfolded when Russian troops deployed an FPV drone— a small, fast-moving unmanned mine-laying aircraft— on one of the city’s central streets. This attack wounded two women aged 55 and 83, further evidencing the ongoing threat faced by the local population. These incidents once again demonstrate the increasing aggression of Russian forces and their deliberate policy of intimidation against the peaceful residents of Kherson. Behind each of these complex situations lies human suffering and anxiety among local residents, who are forced daily to consider new risks and hold on to life in unstable conditions. Local authorities and volunteers are once again calling for unity and caution, emphasizing that responsibility for citizens’ safety rests with all of us. At the same time, experts note that this tense situation could continue for a long time as long as Russia maintains its aggressive stance in Kherson and its surroundings.
