Another tragedy has occurred in Kherson region, related to the dangers caused by war remnants and landmine threats, which continue to take lives
As reported by the Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, on his Telegram page, a tragedy occurred in the Beryslav district, resulting in the death of a 47-year-old man. According to the official, during a walk near the village of Sablukivka, located in this district, a peaceful resident encountered an unknown explosive object. Due to an careless step or lack of awareness, he became a victim of a landmine trap. The explosion was so powerful and destructive that the man sustained severe injuries, which made it impossible to save his life. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene fought for his life but could not save him in the end. This sad tragedy once again highlights the growing problem of landmine dangers in liberated and adjacent territories of Kherson region. Explosive objects, left behind after hostilities or found accidentally, pose a deadly threat to residents, especially those living in rural areas or engaged in agricultural activities. Regional authorities and relevant services have repeatedly called on the population to be extremely cautious and to approach any suspicious or unfamiliar objects carefully. However, caution alone is not enough to counter this threat — systematic demining work, search and destruction of mines and other explosive devices, as well as educational campaigns among local residents, are necessary. Local authorities have already announced plans to intensify cooperation with international organizations and partner structures to accelerate demining of dangerous areas and ensure the safety of local residents. At the same time, it is emphasized that everyone must be conscious and responsible: it is important not to approach suspicious objects and to report findings to the appropriate services without delay. Such a tragic event once again demonstrates how thin the line is between safety and tragedy in conflict zones, where war remnants still carry death and destruction. Military authorities urge residents to be extremely careful, as each misstep could cost lives. At the same time, both government officials and international partners take responsibility for citizens' safety, moving towards greater awareness, demining, and support for the affected. This news once again underscores the importance of caution and active measures to minimize risks. Recently, the number of similar incidents in the region has been increasing, and each one serves as an alarm call for all residents of Kherson region. After all, safety and people's lives must remain the top priorities during these difficult times of war and its aftermath.
