In the temporarily occupied Kherson region, Russian forces have intensified their activities south of the Dnipro Islands, seeking to gain a foothold on the strategically important Bugaz Island. According to official representatives of Ukraine’s southern defense forces, their Russian counterparts have begun reconnaissance and preparatory operations for landing troops to seize a bridgehead with the aim of further crossing the Dnieper River. This was one of the possible scenarios for developing the situation, said Colonel Vladislav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s southern defense forces, during a televised broadcast. He noted that this increased activity by the enemy is yet another attempt to breach the Ukrainian front in this zone. According to the official, Russian troops are currently searching for weak points for landing operations, and over the past few days, there have been several attempts to land forces on the southern part of the Dnipro island system — specifically near the settlement of Kizomys and Bugaz Island. Their goal is to establish a foothold on the island and launch an assault from the south to cross the Dnieper River, thereby reaching new positions for further occupation and disrupting Ukrainian control over this important water route. However, military officials state that all these enemy attempts have so far been unsuccessful. Colonel Voloshyn assured that Ukrainian defenders are holding this line and deliberately repelling any enemy attempts to seize the islands and break through the Ukrainian defensive line. "Such incidents have happened before, but our troops are always capable of resisting and preventing the enemy from successfully implementing their plans," he emphasized. Amid these developments, it is also important to note that the situation in the southern directions remains tense. According to Ukrainian sources, the enemy is increasing its efforts at the frontline positions, particularly in the Novopavlivka direction. Heavy fighting is ongoing there, with the enemy trying to break through Ukrainian defenses and reach the borders of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. This threat demands even greater vigilance from Ukrainian military forces and coordinated defensive tactics to stabilize the situation and prevent the enemy from advancing in strategic areas. Overall, the situation in the south continues to pose a persistent challenge for Ukrainian defense forces. Although Russian troops are halting major offensive actions, they continue provocations and attempts to entrench themselves in occupied territories, trying to exploit any opportunity to strengthen their positions. Ukraine, on its part, maintains its defense and prepares for any scenarios, aiming to retain control over key water routes and prevent the enemy’s potential advance. It is expected that further actions by Ukrainian forces and intelligence efforts will help prevent the enemy from realizing their plans to establish a bridgehead on the Dnieper and ensure stability in this strategically vital region.
