One of the victims of the attack was a railway worker who was killed in his own home. This occurred amid damage to railway infrastructure that complicated the steady operation of regional transportation, particularly in Odessa ports. According to official information released by Ukrzaliznytsia on their Telegram channel, the city’s railway infrastructure sustained significant damage as a result of the nighttime shelling. Areas of the region were targeted, with tracks, the contact network, and three freight wagons damaged, leading to the suspension of some freight services. Despite the destruction, railway workers quickly began recovery operations to ensure uninterrupted movement of freight trains to port terminals — currently, they are operating via alternative routes. Passenger trains have been re-routed and are running on schedule without delays. Unfortunately, this shelling became a tragic event for the Odessa community. Ukrzaliznytsia reported that a railway sector worker was killed during the attack. Sadly, he did not survive in his own home — presumably during the strike or in its immediate aftermath. The details of the tragedy unfolded in a terrorist context, as the Russians intentionally targeted and shelled strategic objects, including transportation infrastructure. Earlier, it was reported that two people were killed and five others injured as a result of a drone attack on Odessa during the night. Residential buildings, social facilities, and vehicles were damaged. Subsequently, the number of victims increased to 15. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with efforts focused on locating and evacuating those affected. Overall, the situation remains tense, as soldiers and rescuers work under difficult conditions to restore damaged infrastructure and try to return the region to normal life. This night was yet another reminder that Odessa and its residents continue to be under constant attack from the aggressor. Authorities once again urge residents to exercise caution, and all services to respond swiftly to the consequences of shelling. Meanwhile, the international community continues to express its support for Ukraine in its struggle for independence and security, reaffirming its unwavering readiness to assist in restoring destroyed infrastructure and protecting the population.
