The weather forecast from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reflects not only significant temperature variations but also changes in wind directions, as well as short-term rainfall with thunderstorms. This indicates an activation of natural processes and the unpredictability of May weather, which will undoubtedly impact the lives and economic activities of Ukrainians. Starting from May 2, it is worth noting that overall, the country will predominantly experience dry weather with no significant precipitation. However, during the night, frosts on the ground may occur in several regions, posing a danger to crops and gardeners. In most northern, western, and central areas, temperatures will drop to 0-5°C, while in the south and Crimea, night temperatures will range from 1 to 6°C of frost, with some southern areas experiencing up to 10°C, complicating sowing and the growth of young plants. Daytime temperatures in early May will fluctuate between 11-16°C, but in western and southern territories, they could reach up to 20°C. Wind during this period will predominantly be northwest at 5-12 m/s, shifting to southwest, creating an additional cool atmosphere. For Kyiv, specifically, May 2 forecasts clear weather with nighttime temperatures around 3-5°C and daytime highs reaching up to +16°C, with a northwest wind. However, by the end of the week, the weather situation will begin to change dramatically. On Saturday, May 3, short-term rains and thunderstorms are expected mainly in the western, northern, and central regions of the country. During the night, in eastern and northeastern regions, temperatures will decrease to 1-6°C, with some slight ground frosts possible, while during the day, air temperatures will rise to 15-20°C. In most other regions, nighttime temperatures will be between 3-10°C, with daytime temperatures already reaching 18-24°C. In Kyiv, May 3 is forecasted to have clear, no-rain weather with nighttime temperatures of 6-8°C, and during the day, short-term rain with highs up to +22°C. The wind will mostly be from the southwest at 7-12 m/s, making the day windy and cool. The next day, May 4, the weather will change again across the country. Nighttime temperatures will warm up to 9-14°C, while in southeast regions, they will range from 4-9°C. During the day, a notable warming is expected, with temperatures ranging from 21-26°C, though in maritime and western areas, it might be slightly lower, around 13-18°C. The wind will remain northwesterly with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s, adding a feeling of chilliness and increasing wind load. In Kyiv, May 4 forecasts short-term rain at night, followed by dry and sunny weather during the day with temperatures up to +24°C. A southwest wind will accelerate to 7-12 m/s, giving the weather a mixed character of warmth and wind. Overall, these days in May demonstrate a transitional phase in climatic processes—from short-term frosts and cooling characteristic of the beginning of the month to more stable and warmer conditions in the middle of the week. Such fluctuations create conditions for many sectors, particularly agriculture, and require increased attention and proper preparation for unexpected weather changes. Ukrainians should be prepared for sharp temperature drops and brief rainfall that could impact plans both in nature and in economic activities.
