A new enemy attack occurred in Kyiv: the explosion of a fragment of a downed Russian drone caused injury to a woman
During the night from May 2nd to 3rd, explosions and alarm signals sounded once again in the Ukrainian capital, as a result of a large-scale Russian air assault. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, during the recent night attack, Ukrainian forces shot down several kamikaze drones; however, one of the remnants of the weapon left after destroying a Russian drone detonated near residential buildings. As a result, an elderly woman living in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv was injured. As Mayor Klitschko reported in his official Telegram channel, the explosive part of the downed Russian drone activated with a delay, which caused damage to an adjacent object and unexpectedly wounded a bystander. The injured woman is hospitalized; her condition is currently assessed as stable, and medical personnel continue providing necessary assistance. The incident followed a large-scale nighttime attack by Russian forces on Ukraine, which unfolded starting the evening of April 30th. According to Ukrainian military and intelligence sources, the enemy used over 170 unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles for this operation, including ballistic "Iskander-M" missiles. Over 140 drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems; however, some of them reached their targets — damage was inflicted on infrastructure objects and residential districts, as recorded by air defense forces. This is not the first time in the past month that Kyiv has become a target of Russian drone attacks. The enemy, using kamikaze drones, aims to undermine civilian morale and destroy critical infrastructure that has already been on the brink of survival for over a year due to full-scale invasion. Ukrainian defenders and special services are actively working to reduce the number of successful attacks and strengthen air defense. Overall, Ukrainian military reports indicate that over 170 drones were launched into the sky during the past night — a significant volume demonstrating increased activity and targeted strikes by Russian forces. Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down about 142 of them, but some still reached their targets, causing destruction and panic among the population. It is important to note that most "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles did not reach their objectives, as they were intercepted by air defense systems. This new incident once again highlights the urgent need to strengthen the defense systems and logistics of Ukrainian forces to prevent further provocations and ensure the safety of Kyiv residents. Local authorities and relevant services call on Kyiv residents to remain vigilant, follow safety rules, and stay calm during this difficult time for the country. Meanwhile, Ukrainian defenders continue to fight against Russian aggression, improving tactics and increasing the effectiveness of city and community protection.
