The situation at the border with Belarus remains relatively stable for now, which does not raise suspicions regarding active military formations of the Russian Federation that could pose a direct threat to Ukraine

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, citing its spokesperson Andriy Demchenko. In an interview with the information agency "Ukrinform," he noted that currently there are no significant changes or new concerns regarding this issue: "At the moment, no Russian units are detected on Belarusian territory in numbers that could directly threaten our state. The overall situation remains stable and under control." Demchenko emphasized that the security situation around the Ukrainian-Belarusian border has not undergone significant changes compared to previous months. At the same time, he pointed out that the situation still carries certain risks, as Russia never rules out the possibility of reusing Belarusian territory within the framework of potential plans for aggression against Ukraine. "This direction remains potentially dangerous, and we do not exclude the possibility that the enemy could employ force or plan new provocations," the spokesman warned. According to him, Ukrainian units monitor any changes in the security situation at the border and within Belarus itself around the clock, allowing for swift responses and threat prevention. "However, we are not currently observing active movement of military units or formation of any strike groups near the border. Nevertheless, we are always prepared for any scenarios, and any signs of mobilization or preparation for possible aggression are brought under our control," Demchenko added. He noted that in the event of any change in the situation, Ukrainian security agencies will immediately receive appropriate information, and the response system will be activated. Regarding current forecasts and warnings, recently President Volodymyr Zelensky pointed out that in the summer of 2025, Russia may prepare to enhance its military presence in Belarus under the guise of large-scale exercises. It was stated that, according to the head of state, the armed forces of the Russian Federation intend to deploy 15 divisions in this region, numbering from 100,000 to 150,000 troops, which is a serious indicator of potential escalation. Earlier, Zelensky emphasized that in 2025, Russia plans to intensify military actions and create so-called "regional troop groupings" in Belarus, which will be accompanied by joint exercises with the Belarusian army. Of course, this also involved preparing grounds for possible military use of Belarusian territory against Ukraine, prompting Ukraine to remain particularly vigilant. Currently, Ukrainian border guards and military personnel are monitoring the situation around the clock, tracking any signs of activity from Russian armed forces or groups within Belarus. Although a direct threat is absent for now, cooperation and vigilance remain central to Ukrainian security agencies, as any increase in Russian military presence in this country could potentially impact the security of the entire region. Ukraine continues to stay alert and maintains strategic composure to respond promptly to any unexpected changes in the situation near the border.
