This time, one of the peaceful communities of the Southern district of Kharkiv — Pivdenne — was targeted, where on the evening of April 29 and the morning of April 30, Russian drones once again demonstrated their destructive power. According to the Kharkiv Regional Police, on the morning of April 30, a missile-drone attack was launched on residential areas of Pivdenne, using the so-called “Geran-2” type UAVs. As a result, residential buildings — a multi-storey apartment building with an attic and an unused neighboring building — were damaged, along with parked cars nearby. Preliminary reports indicate that nine people were injured in the attack, including five children aged from five to 15 years. Official information states that at the moment of the strike, four adults and five children were at home. They experienced acute psychological stress and trauma, and were provided with necessary medical assistance on-site. It is known that the age and condition of the victims caused particular concern among local emergency services and police, who responded promptly to the incident. The Kharkiv Police have already opened a criminal case under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, “Violation of laws and customs of war,” which provides for liability for any war crimes and human rights violations during an armed conflict. The operational units are actively identifying all participants in the attack and are working to establish the circumstances of this incident. Let us recall that this is not the first such case in recent times. On the evening of April 29, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv again with “Geran-2” drones, which caused serious consequences for the population. Powerful explosions occurred, residential buildings were damaged, and more than 45 people received injuries of varying severity. The aftermath of that massive attack was documented and shown in mass media — destroyed residential buildings, damaged infrastructure, hospitalized residents. The shelling of Kharkiv and surrounding settlements has become a daily occurrence in this war. Local authorities and law enforcement officers urge residents to remain cautious and emphasize once again the importance of observing safety rules during air raid alerts and shelling. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces and defense structures continue to take measures to repel the enemy’s advances and to develop new means of countering unmanned aerial vehicles, but the situation remains difficult and tense. The international community once again calls for tightening sanctions against Russia and providing Ukraine with greater military and humanitarian aid in response to this unprecedented wave of attacks. Residents of Kharkiv region and all Ukrainians remain in a state of tension, awaiting further news and decisive actions from the authorities to protect the population and end the aggression.
