America gives the green light: Poland approved to purchase over a billion dollars worth of high-tech air-to-air missiles
The global security arena is once again under the close scrutiny of Washington. The United States has officially approved the transfer of one of the largest arms deals to Poland: the delivery of advanced AIM-120D air-to-air missiles, capable of significantly boosting the defense capabilities of the NATO partner country. According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) of the U.S. Department of Defense, the State Department has made the relevant decision, and this opportunity has already been officially communicated to the U.S. Congress. The U.S. Department of Defense has prepared all necessary documentation confirming the intention to sell this valuable weaponry, and the deal is now under review. The Polish side has already submitted specific requests, including the purchase of 400 AIM-120D missiles, which are among the most modern medium-range air-to-air missile systems. In addition to the missiles themselves, the agreement also includes associated components and equipment necessary for their operation and maintenance. It is noted that such a sale has strategic importance for both parties. On one hand, it helps strengthen the integration of security and defense systems within the Eastern European region—particularly improving Poland’s defensive potential as an active NATO member. On the other hand, this deal aligns with U.S. foreign policy interests, promoting stability and political balance in Central and Eastern Europe.
