The Kyiv City State Administration has developed a clear support mechanism for residents of Sviatoshyn who lost their homes as a result of the tragic events of April 24. The urgent need to provide them with temporary accommodation and assistance with corresponding rent has become a priority for the local authorities. This was announced by Mykola Povoroznyk, the First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, who emphasized that the authorities are doing everything possible to support civilians during this difficult period following one of the most serious missile attacks in recent years. According to the official, as early as the end of April, on the 28th, 34 statements had already been submitted at the city council by residents of Sviatoshyn requesting compensation for rent of temporary housing. This indicates active participation and a clear need for such support. Additionally, about six hundred applications for one-time financial assistance from the city budget under the "Care. Towards Kyiv residents" program reflect the scale and overall tension in the area following the nocturnal attack. Mykola Povoroznyk emphasized in an interview that it is important for residents of Sviatoshyn to remain close to their usual places of residence, as for many of them, these are vital facilities: kindergartens, schools, workplaces. Therefore, they almost unanimously agree to rent compensation and seek to stay closer to their families, even if the provisional accommodation options include social apartments and dormitories prepared for such cases. People are eager to maintain their usual way of life and avoid moving far from their homes. It is important to note that restoration work on the damaged buildings is currently underway. Specialists are temporarily covering damaged roofs with sturdy materials to prevent further destruction in case of rain or adverse weather conditions. Repair and inspection work of window openings is also in progress to assess the extent of damages and quickly begin full-scale repairs of the housing. All these measures are an integral part of comprehensive efforts undertaken by the city authorities to support those affected and to swiftly restore the area's infrastructure. The emergency that arose due to the Russian missile attack on April 24, particularly in the Sviatoshyn district, resulted in significant destruction and human casualties. According to official data, 13 people died during the attack, and 87 were wounded, many of whom require immediate assistance and support. Kyiv authorities assure that they will do everything possible to restore safety and comfortable living conditions for residents of Sviatoshyn as soon as possible. The priority is not only to restore damaged housing but also to support internally displaced persons wishing to return to their homes or to find temporary accommodation nearby to maintain their social and economic ties. This is an important step toward stabilizing life in the district, which has suffered critical losses due to unprecedented aggression. The city administration urges residents to understand existing restrictions and to stay in constant contact with responsible services to receive up-to-date information about the progress of restoration works and available assistance options. With joint efforts of Kyiv and its residents, it will be possible to overcome the consequences of the tragedy and bring Sviatoshyn back to life in the near future.
