Russian drones again struck Kharkiv: “Geran-2” drones launched on the city, resulting in casualties
On the evening of April 29, the city of Kharkiv came under fire again. According to representatives of the local prosecutor’s office, Russian forces used "Geran-2" drones to attack strategic and residential areas of the city, causing significant damage and several injuries. Spartak Borisenko, head of the Anti-Crime Department in Armed Conflict Conditions of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported that the attack took place between 22:00 and 22:30. He stated that several drones were involved in this incident, deliberately disturbing the peace of the city. As a result of the strike, residential neighborhoods—including Kyivskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Slobidskyi, Saltivskyi, and Nemyshlyanskyi districts—were affected. "The enemy used 'Geran-2' type drones to carry out the attack," Borisenko emphasized. "During the assault, multi-apartment buildings, private residences, cars of residents, and infrastructure objects of enterprises were damaged. Additionally, two city hospitals were destroyed, which further complicates the situation." Several people were injured in this attack. In particular, a 16-year-old child was among those affected in the regions hit by the shelling. Rescue services are already working at the scene and providing necessary assistance to the victims, while the city continues rapid and professional efforts to eliminate the consequences of the destruction. According to the prosecutor’s office, the nighttime shelling is yet another example of Russian forces’ aggression, which continues to use unmanned aerial vehicles to strike across Ukraine. Earlier that evening, explosions were also reported in Kharkiv—there are reports that 39 people were injured, including children. This new attack once again underscores the severity of the situation in Kharkiv, where civilians face daily dangers and destruction due to constant enemy shelling. Local authorities and the military continue to work on mitigating the effects of the attacks, providing aid to those affected, and strengthening the city’s defenses. Overall, the situation with drone attacks on Kharkiv remains tense and causes deep concern among residents. Authorities urge the population to stay cautious, follow safety instructions, and understand the necessity of enhanced defensive measures. The increasing number of casualties testifies that the enemy does not stop in its goals and actively continues using advanced technologies in their war against Ukraine.
