In the context of celebrating his first hundred days as President of the United States, Donald Trump continues to be scrutinized by Ukrainian society. According to recent survey data conducted by the “Nova Europa” center, the level of trust in the American leader has decreased to a record low. Nearly 90% of Ukrainians stated that they either completely do not trust or rather do not trust Trump, while about 7.4% expressed a willingness to trust him. This indicates a growing level of skepticism among Ukrainian society towards the American president. The survey was conducted from April 10 to April 24, 2025, by LLC “INFO SAPIEŃS” on behalf of the “Nova Europa” Center. It involved 1,000 respondents aged 18 and older, allowing for conclusions with a margin of error not exceeding 3.1% at a 95% confidence level. Due to the specifics of the survey methodology, the research did not cover temporarily occupied territories controlled by Russia. According to the results, from November 2024, when the share of Ukrainians who did not trust Trump was 47.2%, there has been a rapid increase in distrust. Over a few months, this figure nearly doubled, indicating a deterioration in public attitude towards the American president. Compared to other European countries, Ukraine shows a surprisingly low level of trust: for example, in France, this figure is only 16%, in the United Kingdom — 30%, and the highest distrust is observed in Hungary — 37%. Therefore, Ukrainian realities seem particularly concerning, as the distrust level has almost doubled in just five months. It should be noted that this rating is only one aspect of the deeper analysis of Ukrainian society’s attitude towards the American politician, which significantly depends on domestic and foreign political factors. It is worth emphasizing that within the expert community, discussions have long been underway regarding Trump’s level of support in the U.S. and worldwide, as just a few weeks before his second term, his popularity rating was much lower than that of his predecessors over the past 70 years. Trump himself attempts to doubt these data, accusing the media of falsifications and fake polls. Meanwhile, his stance on Ukraine and the unexpected critical remarks made after meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Vatican have caused considerable resonance. Amid sharp criticism of Russia's recent strikes on Ukrainian cities, he expressed doubts about Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s intention to end the war and threatened sanctions against Moscow. Trump also stated that Putin should cease hostilities and reach a peace agreement. This fact further reinforces the idea that political dynamics and Trump's diplomatic statements influence the mood of Ukrainian society and shape its attitude, casting doubt on any level of trust. Overall, an analysis of the situation leads to the conclusion that the U.S. and personally Donald Trump remain among the main concerns of Ukrainians today, and the level of their support or distrust is a symbol of the complex international and internal situation in the world and Ukraine in particular. Whether Trump can change this trend by remaining at the peak of the political arena and responding to internal and external challenges is an open question, but one thing remains a fact: Ukrainian society increasingly demonstrates its skepticism towards the American leader and his policies.
