Russian occupiers have once again carried out an armed attack on the peaceful population of Donetsk region, causing severe losses and leaving an unforgiving tragedy in human lives
Three people, including an elderly man and woman, were killed in the village of Novoeconomichne, which is part of the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region. This sad news was confirmed by official sources — the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, which reported the harrowing situation at the scene through its Telegram channel. According to the report, around 4 a.m. on April 28, Russian troops launched a missile attack on the private sector of the village of Novoeconomichne. This happened while local residents were in their homes, trying to continue their usual way of life. As a result of this barbaric assault, the brief but very telling report from the prosecutor’s office confirms that among the dead were a married couple aged 76 and 78 — they did not die from the explosions of war but perished in their own homes, defending themselves from the brutal realities of the conflict. Additionally, one more citizen, aged 47, received injuries incompatible with life, further emphasizing the cruelty of this attack. It is also reported that several private dwellings were damaged during the assault, destruction that now symbolizes the mercilessness of the war and the defenselessness of peaceful residents in this part of Donetsk. It is noted that the type of weapon used by the Russian occupiers for this attack is currently being determined. However, it is already known that missile strikes or artillery shelling caused significant damage to residential buildings and created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the local population. This incident once again underscores the helplessness of civilians in military conflicts, where peaceful residents become innocent victims of aggression. Official authorities condemn such actions and are forced to respond to new challenges in their efforts to provide protection and aid to those affected. Meanwhile, the situation in Donetsk remains tense, with daily shelling by occupying forces serving as a constant reminder of the alarm and ongoing risk faced by residents of this part of Ukraine. More and more evidence confirms that ceasefires and any attempts to establish peaceful dialogue in this zone are hindered by the cynical aggression of Russian forces, who do not recognize the value of human life and peaceful citizens. Therefore, Ukrainian residents, especially in eastern regions, continue to fight daily for their right to a safe life, trusting in the imminent victory and restoration of peace. This tragedy once again reminds us of the cost of war, forcing society to reflect on the need to intensify international efforts and support to end this brutal confrontation and restore the normal rhythm of life for peaceful Ukrainian communities.
