Russian occupation forces have struck again in the Sumy region, causing damage to one of the communities in northeastern Ukraine
According to official information, on the morning of April 23, powerful sounds of an air raid were heard in the Shostka territorial community, resulting in significant destruction and despair among local residents. According to Shostka mayor Mykola Noga, who detailed the situation in a social media post, the attack was carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), indicating an experienced and targeted enemy tactic. “The Russian aggressor launched an air strike on the territory of our community. Initially — using drones. As a result, several residential buildings, a kindergarten, vehicles, and some utility facilities were damaged,” the official reported. Emergency rescue services are working on the scene, assessing the extent of the destruction and providing assistance to the victims. According to Noga, search and evacuation operations are still ongoing, as damaged buildings and drone remnants create a potentially dangerous situation. “There are drone fragments left on the streets and near residential complexes, possibly explosive. Therefore, I urge residents to be cautious and report any suspicious objects to the police,” the city head emphasized. He stressed that the authorities are doing everything possible to minimize the consequences of the attacks and enhance city safety. “Please stay calm, do not ignore air raid signals, and follow the instructions of emergency services,” Mykola Noga added. Overall, this attack once again confirms the unstable situation in eastern Ukraine, where Russian occupiers continue to employ various tactics to intimidate the population and destroy infrastructure. Residents of Shostka and surrounding settlements now have to adapt to this new reality, which requires caution and vigilance at all times. Authorities are calling on everyone to stay safe and actively inform law enforcement about any suspicious or dangerous objects found in the city.
