Germany confirmed: regardless of the position of the United States, Berlin will continue its efforts to support Ukraine in the war with Russia
This was stated by the head of Germany’s Ministry of Defense, Boris Pistorius, who emphasized that the decision to provide further military assistance is enshrined in the coalition agreement and is unwavering. In his speech, Pistorius underscored that Ukraine’s fight for its independence holds significant strategic importance not only for Ukraine itself but also for the security of the entire European continent and the NATO system. According to him, if Russia manages to break through Ukrainian defenses or occupy large territories of the country, it would have catastrophic consequences for international stability. This would create maximum threats for neighboring countries, especially Moldova and Georgia, undermining the security of the entire region. The German defense minister emphasized that the modern policy of supporting Ukraine is not only a demonstration of solidarity but also a principled necessity in the context of ensuring national security. He did not hide that the situation is becoming more complicated and expressed his view, highlighting the importance of responsible and united support for the Ukrainians in their fight against the Russian aggressor. Addressing the role of the U.S. in this conflict, Pistorius made a comparison, calling unacceptable the idea of concessions on Ukrainian territories during peace negotiations. He noted that the U.S. proposals for possible territorial compromises with Ukraine to achieve peace essentially undermine Ukraine’s right to sovereignty and only increase the risks for the security of the entire European Union. In addition to these statements, the minister announced a new package of military aid for Kyiv, which will soon be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces. According to official information, this package will include, among other things, four modern IRIS-T air defense systems, which can significantly strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities and protect its civilian population from massive Russian missile attacks. This statement from Berlin reaffirms Germany’s firm position — a country that, despite difficulties and political complications, remains unwavering in its pragmatic support for Ukraine’s fight for independence. While the world observes the escalation of the conflict, European politicians emphasize: their support for Kyiv is not only a moral obligation but also a strategic necessity to maintain stability in the region and prevent new threats in the future.
