Early Sunday morning, residents of Kupiansk neighborhoods woke up to explosions and alarming reports of a new wave of shelling. According to the State Emergency Service (SES), during the night of Saturday, Russian forces carried out a large-scale strike on the residential districts of Kupiansk in Kharkiv region, using guided aerial bombs. This led to significant destruction and human casualties, some of which remain trapped under the ruins. Specifically, based on information from local authorities and sources within the SES, during the night shelling several residential buildings were destroyed, one of which was completely leveled to the ground. Additionally, seven private homes were damaged, and some structures were partially destroyed. It is also known that state facilities suffered damage — partial destruction was recorded at administrative and educational institutions, including workshops and non-residential buildings near a school that is no longer operational. On Saturday evening, the situation in the city became particularly tense. Many residents were affected by the Russian air strikes, including a man born in 1936, whose body was recovered from the rubble only on Sunday morning. According to rescue workers, search and rescue efforts continued throughout the night, and today they managed to extract the man's body from under the debris, ending his life due to an aerial bomb hit. In addition to the deceased, two women aged 65 and 60 were injured. Medical reports indicate that they experienced acute stress reactions, which are common responses of the body to the shock and intense psychological trauma caused by the missile attack. All those affected are currently receiving necessary medical care, and their condition is under medical control. Local authorities and rescue services are actively working on mitigating the consequences of the shelling, while residents of Kupiansk remain in a state of anxiety and uncertainty. Official agencies urge citizens to stay in shelters until the threat level subsides, as the situation is unlikely to stabilize in the near future. Overall, this night again confirmed that Kupiansk and its inhabitants remain at the epicenter of the conflict, with peaceful life under threat from Russian aggression. Local authorities are calling on the international community to intensify pressure on the aggressor country and to provide additional assistance for the restoration of destroyed facilities and support for those affected. Amid these events, public outrage is growing, and calls for strengthening defensive measures in Kharkiv region and across the entire Ukrainian territory are intensifying.
