Total Russian and North Korean military losses in the Kursk sector have exceeded 67,000, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Since the beginning of the Kursk operation, which has been ongoing since August 6, 2024, Ukrainian defenders have recorded significant losses of the enemy's military strength and personnel resources, while also achieving valuable victories and rescuing hundreds of our compatriots from captivity. According to official data, in the area of combat operations on the Kursk front sector, the Russians have lost over 62,000 of their troops. These figures include both irrecoverable losses—meaning those who have been killed and cannot be brought back to life—and medical casualties such as wounded soldiers. Specifically, according to the General Staff, since the start of the operation, a total of 25,200 personnel have been eliminated, and the number of wounded has exceeded 36,000. Additionally, 983 servicemen from the Russian army have been taken prisoner on the front, and these exchanges have allowed saving the lives of hundreds of our defenders who were evacuated from Russian captivity. Regarding North Korean troops, their losses in the Kursk direction are estimated by Ukrainian military sources at over 4,500 personnel—both killed and wounded. This indicates that the enemy is suffering devastating losses on all fronts and is enduring significant casualties while fighting against Ukrainian defenders. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasizes that hostilities in this section of the front continue, and the situation remains tense. Recently, Putin announced that the last settlement in the Kursk region—Gorny—has been "liberated," which prompted official propaganda statements from the Russian leadership about supposed victories and the end of hostilities in the region. However, Ukrainian military officials refute these claims, stressing that information about the "elimination of the last key settlements" does not reflect reality, and the aggressor country continues to suffer substantial losses and fight on all fronts. This has been the case before, and the situation remains difficult and tense. Ukrainian military leadership underscores that the fight continues, and Ukrainian defenders are not giving the enemy any respite, inflicting heavy losses and gradually regaining control over the occupied territories. At the same time, Ukrainian forces analyze the situation and continue working to strengthen their defenses, seizing every opportunity to reinforce their positions and gain new important tactical advantages.
