The use of Russian stealth drones has triggered a new wave of danger for peaceful residents of Donetsk region

On the morning of April 26, Russian occupants carried out a direct strike near the settlement of Pokrovsk, more precisely – in the Shakhivska United Territorial Community, which is part of Pokrovske District. According to preliminary information, the target was a civilian vehicle – a minibus that was moving along the road at that moment, ignoring the danger. According to the press service of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the attack was carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped for precise strikes. The enemy FPV drone (used to operate the UAV via a relay video signal from cameras) launched a shot vulnerable to civilian objects. As a result, several people inside the minibus received serious injuries of various kinds. The injured were promptly transported to medical facilities. Preliminary medical assessments indicate they suffered mine-explosive injuries, multiple shrapnel wounds, concussions, and burns. Specialists are assessing the extent of the damages and doing everything possible to provide appropriate help. Among those injured is a minor – a 16-year-old boy, whose condition is currently assessed as severe but stable. This tense incident highlights the potential consequences of using modern armed technology in peacetime and against civilian targets. This is not the first case of Russian drones operating deep into Ukrainian territory, but each such incident sparks waves of outrage and discontent among the local population. What is most infuriating is that civilians find themselves in the combat zone without tactical necessity, and that such covert attacks by a powerful enemy open new frontiers of security threats and medical challenges for Ukrainian services. The information about the incident is currently confirmed by the prosecutor’s office, which emphasizes the dangers of employing new technologies in conducting hostilities against civilians. The authorities note that all safety and protective measures are being taken to ensure the security of the population; however, the aggressor continues to use technological innovations to intimidate and destroy peaceful residents. Ukraine calls on the international community to increase pressure on Russia to stop targeted attacks on civilians and the use of banned weapons, which violate international law and conventions. The events near Pokrovsk serve as a sobering reminder of the constant danger looming over the peaceful cities of Donetsk region. The war continues, and each new incident is a signal for all to unite efforts toward achieving peace and protecting what is most precious – ordinary people and their lives.
