Following a detailed report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, President Volodymyr Zelensky made a public statement, noting that Russian invaders are not ceasing hostilities—in fact, they are intensifying assault efforts, attempting to maximize the use of a massive missile attack to launch ground offensives. According to the head of state, the Kremlin is planning and implementing this strategy in response to the successes of Ukrainian defenders, aiming to create a new crisis on the frontlines. Zelensky shared significant statistical data regarding the scale of the aggression on his Telegram account: "Over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled about 150 attacks by Russian military units. These attacks were often accompanied by over 4,000 artillery shellings, including heavy weaponry, indicating attempts by the Russians to break through Ukrainian defenses and push the frontlines in various directions." The most challenging situation, according to Zelensky, is in the Pokrovsk direction, where fighting has been particularly intense. "Russian forces, masking their large-scale strikes, attempted to launch active assaults on the frontline. Meanwhile, as Ukrainian defenders focused on resisting rocket and drone attacks, the Russians intensified ground offensives. In this battle, the Ukrainian army was able to give a worthy rebuff to the enemy and prevent their plans for forward movement," the president emphasized. The prelude to these events was the massive nighttime attack on April 24, which affected various regions of Ukraine. According to official information, at least 12 people were killed in Kyiv during the shelling, and the number of wounded and damaged infrastructure objects is still being clarified. Sources report that the attack was carried out using an unprecedentedly large ballistic missile, which Ukrainian authorities suspect was produced by North Korea. This adds a new layer of complexity to the confrontation, as the use of such weapons significantly complicates defense and increases the danger for the civilian population. Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities are in a state of alert and tension. Authorities are urging citizens not to give up and to continue fighting for their independence. Official representatives assure that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are doing everything possible to defend and prevent further enemy attacks. At the same time, active international cooperation is ongoing to obtain additional support in the fight against the aggressor. Thus, the situation remains tense. Russia does not relent, and its tactics—mixing massive missile strikes with ground assaults—continue to pose a threat to Ukraine’s security and its citizens. Ukrainian military forces continue efforts to repel the enemy and strengthen defenses; however, each new round of hostilities underscores the importance of international support in this struggle for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
