Zelensky announced that the majority of components in the Russian missile used by Russia to kill 12 civilians in Kyiv on April 24 are produced in the United States of America
According to the Ukrainian president, a detailed analysis of the collected debris showed that the combat system used in the attack on the capital contains at least 116 imported parts, most of which originate from the USA. This discovery further confirms that during the war, Russia actively utilizes foreign technologies and components for its weapons, and the insufficient level of international pressure allows countries supporting Moscow to continue supplying it with weapons, including ballistic missiles and their parts. In his social media address, Zelensky said: "Sources have already confirmed that this missile is from North Korea. After our investigation, it became clear that this ballistic system includes at least 116 components from different countries, with the majority manufactured in the USA. We are currently identifying all the parts to precisely determine each element. But it is already evident that Moscow, due to the lack of international pressure, is using foreign-origin missile systems to attack Ukrainian territory." The head of state also thanked international partners who help Ukraine defend itself: in particular, those supplying air defense systems, missiles, and other weapons. He emphasized that external support continues from countries that maintain international pressure on Russia and its allies. According to Zelensky, Ukraine needs to strengthen this diplomatic and military campaign to stop the aggressor and cease the killing of civilians. "We have already accepted the proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump over 45 days ago to cease fire—across land, sea, and air. We suggested extending this lull, prolonging it until Easter. Additionally, we directly called on Russia to stop strikes against civilian objects—and Russia has ignored all these initiatives. That is why, without global and targeted pressure, it is already difficult to stop this war. The first step toward ending this tragedy is to stop the killings. This is our priority and condition for any dialogue," Zelensky stressed. As a reminder, last Friday saw the completion of rescue operations at the site of one of the Russian strikes that caused mass civilian casualties. Russian forces killed 12 residents of Kyiv and injured nearly 90. Currently, more than 30 people remain in hospitals, including those with severe injuries and amputations, illustrating the scale and brutality of this attack. Ukraine insists on an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, considering it the only way to reduce casualties and stabilize the situation. The country's authorities call on the world and the international community to increase pressure on Russia to force it to cease military actions and to take responsibility for the horrific crimes against civilians. An urgent ceasefire and a return to diplomacy are the only ways to save Ukrainian lives and restore peace on Ukrainian soil.
