A new statement has appeared in the Ukrainian information space from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who made an unexpected and extremely important message regarding future negotiations and the possibilities of achieving peace
In his address on April 25, the head of state emphasized that the coming days will be decisive for resolving the conflict, as significant meetings could take place during this time, which Ukrainian citizens are eagerly awaiting. According to Zelensky, these negotiations could become the key to bringing long-awaited peace and calm to our country, which most of all strives to restore a peaceful life. In his speech, the president stressed that the main goal of any future negotiations is to achieve an unconditional ceasefire. At the same time, he underscored the necessity of applying pressure on Russia — so that this country either accepts the American proposal for an immediate end to the war and movement towards peace, or adopts a Ukrainian alternative that would guarantee a swift and unconditional cessation of hostilities. Zelensky spoke about the importance of exerting real influence and diplomatic efforts to create conditions under which fighting would cease, allowing the country to return to negotiations from a position of strength and dignity. The details of Ukrainian diplomacy were shared by the head of state during a recent meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, which he conducted as a strategic session with key ministers and military leaders. In particular, he separately highlighted the importance of supplying air defense systems to ensure the safety of Ukraine’s airspace. A broad discussion also took place regarding future armament deliveries, including the "Patriot" systems, which could significantly change the balance of power on the front lines. Zelensky emphasized that military support remains one of the priorities in his diplomatic policy. "We have specific tasks for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and we are working diligently to reach agreements with our partners, including the United States," he noted. According to the President, Ukrainian diplomats are already working on creating conditions for purchasing the necessary Patriot systems, which could secure protection not only for military facilities but also for the civilian population. "We are ready to purchase the required number of such systems. This is not about humanitarian aid or charity — it is a necessity for protecting our people and our country from aggression," Zelensky stressed. In conclusion, the president reaffirmed that dialogue with the United States is in an active phase and noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received instructions to work even more intensively to reach an agreement on the Patriot missile defense system as soon as possible. He stated that the Ukrainian side is proposing specific options for agreements aimed at strengthening the country's defense and security, as well as ensuring a swift and tangible start to the process of ceasing military actions. Thus, the country's leadership has every reason to hope for the development of new formats of negotiations and diplomatic compromises that could end the prolonged war and bring long-awaited stability and security to Ukraine. However, the key question remains how quickly and effectively the involved parties will be able to reach a consensus capable of resolving the conflict on a long-term basis and laying the foundation for peace and the country's recovery.
