Ukraine condemns Russia’s massive night attack: Sibiga emphasizes — the obstacle to peace is precisely Moscow, not Kyiv

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, following another brutal night attack by Russian forces, called on the international community to increase pressure specifically on Moscow. He believes that, as of today, Russia is the main obstacle on the path to long-awaited peace. According to posts made on the social network X, Kyiv emphasizes that Russia’s territorial demands for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops and its overall intentions to weaken Ukraine's defenses are direct manifestations of Moscow’s aggressive policy aimed at maintaining its military presence and influence on Ukrainian lands. The head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the night strikes by the Russian army targeted not only military facilities but also civilian infrastructure, especially in Kyiv. The picture he describes is quite alarming: he states that it was one of the harshest and loudest nights for the Ukrainian population, during which at least nine civilians were killed in Kyiv, and more than seventy were injured, including six children. Not only the capital suffered hits — rocket and drone attacks by Russian forces claimed lives and left hundreds of civilians wounded in various regions across the country. Such actions, the Ukrainian foreign minister emphasizes, confirm that Russia has no intention of pursuing diplomacy and dialogue; instead, it demonstrates a clear reluctance to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict. "Only strength and pressure can make Russia stop," — stated Andriy Sibiga in his comment, emphasizing that "Putin is doing everything to show — he does not respect any peace efforts, and only pressure and decisive actions on our part can stop his aggression." At the same time, he underlined that these attacks are a manifestation of absolute disrespect for peace and human life, and any diplomatic efforts are clearly blocked by the Kremlin, which is trying to maintain its positions at any cost. In the context of recent events, Ukraine continues to call on the global community not to stop and to intensify sanctions, as well as to increase pressure on Russia to force it to cease aggressive actions. External support for Ukraine plays an important role in this effort: Ukrainian politicians and diplomatic circles emphasize that Moscow’s attempts to destroy infrastructure and intimidate the civilian population should not go unanswered. International leaders also call to remember this struggle. On the other hand, amid ongoing Russian aggression, it is worth noting that prior to this, U.S. President Donald Trump publicly stated that Russia is ready for a "peace agreement," while Ukrainian authorities and President Volodymyr Zelensky have repeatedly emphasized that the path to peace is complex, and reaching a compromise with the Kremlin currently appears unlikely. Therefore, Ukraine continues to urge its international partners not to reduce pressure on Russia but rather to intensify it to compel Moscow to return to diplomacy and end the war. Overall, the situation remains tense, and the night attack served as another reminder — achieving peace in Ukraine is only possible if Moscow is made to realize that armed aggression cannot continue with impunity. Russia’s war is evidently an obstacle to restoring stability and security in the region, and only stronger international steps and decisive actions from Ukraine and the global community can move this situation off dead center.
